Despite not being quite finished with our study of Missions work being done in Ukraine, the RA's had an incredible trip to the Taste of Europe Restaurant in Arlington, Texas to sample some Ukrainian food.
The experience was far beyond our expectations. The service and ambience were outstanding, and all of the unique food was awesome!
The boys tried Caviar, Borscht, Crepes, Pierogis, various sausages, Chicken Kiev and more. For dessert, everyone shared several delicious types of dessert crepes, including some with Russian Preserves.
If you have a school-age boy, we would love to have them join us on our next adventure and in our next study -- Missions Journey: Adoption and Foster Care.
A successful trip to Fort Sill to visit the Marine Detachment and put a capstone on our study of the Southern Baptist Ministry to Marines though the Pillar Churches, such as Pillar Church 29 Palms. The day started with a donut picnic on the way north, then being greeted by Marines and given a personal tour and hands-on training with Marine Corps Artillery. We had MREs for lunch and then got a chance to see some historical cannon and rocket displays. It was a great day! And as Ambassadors for Christ, we were able to hand out Plan of Salvation Bookmarks and II Corinthians 5:20 Water Bottles to all of the Marines that hosted us, as well as tell them about the Pillar Churches that minister to Marines. If you have a school-age boy, we would love to have them join us on our next adventure and in our next study -- Ministry to Ukraine.
RA's - Challengers meet every Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. right after Wednesday Night Supper at Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church.
Our RA - Challenger Chapter is open to all school age boys, elementary through high school.
We are the Royal Ambassadors and Challengers Chapters of Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church in Nocona, Texas. RA's and Challengers are scouting-type organizations that learn about Missions and participate in mission activities.
Join us as we continue to learn about the North American Mission Board's Ministry to Marines. Here's just a bit of what we've learned so far:
"Pillar Church of 29 Palms was planted in October 2017. Six families prayed about starting a church where marine corps families would have access to a healthy church without driving more than 90 minutes to worship and fellowship with other believers. By January 2018, families in 29 Palms were gathering weekly for worship. In March 2018 the church was officially launched in a community where people were longing to participate in the work of the church.
Of the six families that joined together to plant the church, three are Marine Corps military families. All these families come from different parts of the country."
Royal Ambassadors (RA's) and Challengers are missions organizations for boys in grades 1-12 that help them develop a Biblical worldview with an emphasis on missions learning and missions doing. RA's utilizes activities that are designed to help boys learn about missions and get them personally involved in practical missions experiences while having fun.
The Purpose of Royal Ambassadors - Challengers is to involve boys in missions.
Involvement in missions is living one's faith daily: personal experience in witness and ministry, and giving and praying to support persons involved in missions. The Royal Ambassador program helps boys to become aware of the needs of people around the world and to respond to those needs. The organization seeks to lead boys to a personal commitment to Christ and assist them in their Christian growth experience. Through Royal Ambassadors, boys are led to an awareness of their responsibility to Christ and encouraged to become His ambassador. This purpose is outlined in the Royal Ambassador Pledge.
Royal Ambassadors accomplish the points of the pledge through:
